Book Covers

The primary purpose of a book cover is to protect the pages inside of a book; however, it is very important that a book cover has the ability to draw the attention of curious readers. It is also essential that the cover provides the best representation of the story within. The look and layout of a book cover is not a random design. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. We at Ara Illustrated pay careful attention to every detail, making sure that each book cover created is a fitting representation of the contents of the book, and that it’s also able to grab the attention of readers skimming bookstore shelves.

It is with great pride that we work as a team with the author to create the best final illustration that truly embodies their work.

Caricature and Whimsy

There is nothing more fun than capturing a personality in a whimsical illustration. I’ve done hundreds of these fun art pieces over the years. These pieces have been given to people for various celebrations such as birthdays, anniversaries, milestones, graduations, weddings, retirement, etc. I’m not your typical caricature artist; I work from photographs provided by clients. I also ask for personal information about the subject and this is extremely helpful for designing a truly custom piece. The final results are always fun and light-hearted and well-received. Pricing varies starting at $200.00 depending on complexity, finished format and client’s wish list.

Commercial

These types of Illustrations are created for the sole purpose to market and promote businesses, corporations, events, products, etc.

Painterly Styling

This approach usually portrays a more realistic image using various digital and mixed medias, such as chalk, pastels, water color, etc. It is important in this art form that the illustrator best represent the true nature of the person or object being represented, and we take great pride in being faithful to the reality being represented.

Spot Illustration

Spot illustration is a great way to enhance and articulate literature, posters, stationery, and so much more. This service is often used by authors and editors, to highlight a special character or mood of any written works.

Technical and Photo Illustration

is the use of illustration to visually communicate information of a technical nature. Technical illustrations can be components of drawings, charts and diagrams. Technical illustrations are defined as “expressive images that effectively convey certain information via the visual channel to the human observer.” Photos are a great way to add to a technical illustration by using real product materials or models to show an array of features and benefits of any subject. Incorporated along with customized graphics such as arrows, numbers, copy and anything that will help visually communicate “how to use”, how a product is made” or “educate” the target audience creates a powerful marketing tool.

Technical illustrations generally have to describe and explain the subjects to a nontechnical audience. Therefore the visual image should be accurate in terms of dimensions and proportions, and should provide an overall impression of what an object is or does.

What does this mean for you? Innovative product features can provide a competitive advantage – - If consumers can be provided with visually enhanced explanations, they can better understand the features and how they work. We understand this and create technical illustration that communicates the right information to your target audience.
